Week 4: Professional Poster

Purpose

The purpose of this activity is to provide students with an opportunity disseminate their DNP evidence-based practice change project in a poster presentation.  This is a progressive assignment that begins in NR707 and is completed in NR 709.

Course Outcome

This assignment contributes to meeting the following course outcomes:

NR707:
CO 3: Demonstrate knowledge and skills in support for and dissemination of scholarship (POs 2, 3)

NR709:
CO 1: Evaluate the outcomes of the DNP project using narrative and statistical methods (POs 3, 5, 6).
CO 2: Develop a comprehensive plan for communicating the results of the evaluation of the DNP project for determination of sustainability and replication (POs 5, 6).
CO 3: Engage in a process of self-assessment and career planning through the development of an electronic professional portfolio to demonstrate growth and development, the achievement of program outcomes, and DNP sub-competencies as designated in the AACN DNP Essentials (PO 6).
CO 4: Use project management processes to implement the DNP project (POs 4, 8).

Preparing the Assignment

1. Create your poster using the 40″ x 60″ PowerPoint template. Utilize the Professional Poster Template located in the Student Resource Center under “Project and Practicum Resources” to create your poster.
   1. Download the Professional Poster Template available in course resources. This template must be used to create and complete your poster.
   2. Notice that the textboxes are created with the required headings. The font, font size, and headers are selected. er title is 72-font. Name and credentials are 42-font. The headings are 32-font. The text is a legible font size.
   3. er includes all required components, arranged in logical manner. Title, author, and credentials are clear. Template headings are used (Practice Problem, Clinical Question, Methodology, Results, Conclusions, Implications, and References). er must convey the project in the most concise and accurate way possible to ensure reader comprehension.
2. Insert content into the textboxes. Content is well-developed, concisely conveyed, and scholarly
   1. Practice Problem: Be brief and offer strong evidence-based statements for the significance or prevalence or incidence of the practice problem at the national, state, and local levels with in-text citation(s). The Project Aim (objective for your project) is included at the end of this section.
   2. Clinical Question: This must be the approved clinical question (PICOT) as identified in the Chamberlain University IRB approval letter.
   3. Methodology: Briefly state elements in bullet points: Translational science model, setting, population, inclusion and exclusion criteria, sample size, intervention (cite source), summative evaluation, formative evaluation, outcome, data collection, instrument (cite source if applicable), data analysis which includes statistical test, and timeframe of implementation.
   4. Results: (LEAVE BLANK)

   6. Implications for Nursing and Healthcare – Anticipated implications for changing nursing practice are identified in NR707. Implications are updated in NR709 based on DNP project results. The implications indicate what is known or regarding nursing practice when project results are considered together with previous literature. Implications should be considered at the various systems levels, including Micro (patient outcomes, Meso (nursing practice), and Macro (facility or healthcare system) levels.
   7. References: Add references for the in-text citations in er. Use correct APA formatting for each reference and each in-text citation.
3. Save er as a PowerPoint file which will end as .ppt or .pptx
4. APA format is required for citations and references.
5. Follow the directions and grading criteria below closely. Any questions about this assignment should be directed to the course faculty.

   2. Poster Content is focused on DNP Evidence-Based Practice Change Project

   3. Use of Scientific Evidence
      1. er provides scientific evidence related to DNP project.
      2. Includes in-text citations for at least three (3) research articles (single or systematic reviews) and/or government or nationally recognized healthcare focused organization (American Heart Association; American Diabetes Association; National Heart, Blood, and Lung Institutes, etc.) websites are included and identified in the References section.
      3. References and in-text citations are in correct APA format, excluding the hanging indent (which PowerPoint may not enable).
   4. Visual Presentation
      1. No Spelling or grammatical errors.
      2. Font size and font type are legible and consistent in each section of er. Reference section font may be smaller but must be legible.
      3. Template is used, not modified in color, graphics, or headings.
      4. No agency or facility names should be included in the Clinical Question (PICOT) or anywhere in er.
      5. The PICOT timeframe should be correct/feasible. For example, a 30-day readmission outcome must be a 14-week project (with rare exceptions).
      6. Tables and charts may be used if they enhance the comprehension of the findings.
