1) Tell us your experience of UNCRC as an early childhood educator so far. When did you first see/hear/read about the UNCRC (OHCHR, 1989)? What are your thoughts about this document?
2) After reading the UNCRC (OHCHR, 1989) again and associated readings (Week 1-2), select only ONE Article from the convention you think is especially important for your work as an early childhood educator. DO NOT choose Article 31. State the number of the article, describe it in your own words and briefly explain why you think it is relevant to you as an early childhood educator.
3) This last task is to help you understand what support services CSU has to help you with your assessments. There is a guide on where to find these on the Assessment 1 hints page.

• Sarah te One’s journal article reports on how the quality of children’s experiences in a New Zealand Crèche was affected by the organisational and physical environment. These two forces influenced the adults’ perceptions of children’s rights and created some observable tension between professional aspirations to provide for high-quality early childhood education.
This journal article is called Implementing children’s rights in education. (Good for assessment 2)

The EYLF (2009) is based on sound, proven early childhood pedagogy and practice principles. However, for the EYLF to be implemented properly, all early childhood educators need to know what play is, why it is important, how to implement and assess a play-based program and their role in it (Barblett, 2016, para. 14).
