Position on the Core Themes Journal activities in this course are private between you and the instructor. Journals will be used to reflect on the learning objectives for the course and how they relate to your development as a professional. The journal assignments provide an opportunity to connect the readings and professional practices to your own personal and professional experiences. Journals are intended to create a broader perspective on the developmental concept, and to provide you with an opportunity to critically examine and apply that concept through your own experiences.

Position on the Core Conflicts Throughout the history of the field of developmental psychology, three core conflicts have emerged in the examination of the theories and concepts (nature vs. nurture, continuity vs. discontinuity, and stability vs. change). Your understanding of these conflicts will serve as a foundation for the examination of theories throughout this course, and it is expected that you may have preexisting preferences for one side or the other in each of these conflicts. In this journal assignment, utilize your professional and personal experiences as examples to:
Describe the core conflicts (nature vs. nurture, continuity vs. discontinuity, and stability vs. change) by explaining each conflict with accompanying examples and a high degree of detail.
Reflect on which side of each conflict you may hold a preference for as an emerging professional and articulate your position on each core conflict.
Apply professional and/or personal experience to examine the three core conflicts. (You are not required to share personal or sensitive information.)
What to Submit
Submit assignment as a Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Journal assignments must follow APA-style citations, and word count must be a minimum of 350 to a maximum of 750 words.
