Phase 1. Child Observation.

These assessments will provide the foundation of planning.

1. Observations:

• Students will observe 5 children using 5 observation tools.  (NAEYC Standard 3b)
• Developmental Checklists are required for each child. (NAEYC Standard 1b)
• Other appropriate assessment tools can be:

      • Anecdotal Record with Artifact (an artifact can be a photo or a work sample)
      • Running Record
      • Work Sample with stage and explanation

 

 

2. Observation Summaries:

Students will submit 5 Assessment tools per child. (NAEYC Standard 1a)   Then a Summary that utilizes the data collected in the observations.

NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development Alignment (NAEYC Standard 3a)

The Summary must include data used to ascertain the child’s strengths, areas for scaffolding, and goals from North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development (NCFELD) or NC Course of Study.  A form is provided on BrightSpace for your completion.
