In the context of your writing, the paper should explore at least one of the media effects theories discussed in class: Cultivation, Gatekeeping, Agenda- setting/Framing or Uses & Gratifications. The paper may be organized in this way:
Introduction (1 paragraph)
A. Briefly describe the event. What year did it happen? Where did it happen? Who was involved? Was it a national, international or local news event?
B. Tell us what media outlets were involved in covering this event (You may focus on just the most prominent ones). Where they through television, radio, the internet, print, film? What companies?
C. Describe your interaction with the event. How were you first exposed to it? What was your knowledge of it before this project?
Body (~3 paragraphs)
I. Effects on Public Perception
A. In what ways did the media coverage of the event influence audience’s perceptions of the people involved?
B. In what ways did the media coverage influence audience’s perceptions of the event or happening itself?
C. Does the coverage of the event reflect a particular media ideology(ies) – especially those discussed in class and in your textbook?
D. Were there any elements of misrepresentation involved in the coverage, including issues of gender, class, race, sexual orientation?

E. Did media coverage of the event affect its outcome in any way? How?
